Guest Testimonials

"Staying in one of William and Nora´s comfortable apartment/suites was ideal for us. Nice, private quarters, lovely garden area, quiet neighborhood away from traffic, and yet within walking distance of everything. William and Nora are gracious host able to provide guidance on anything to do with living in, and getting to know, the marvelous town that Oaxaca is. We´ll be back many times."
Ed and Barbara Morrow, Manchester Vermont

For my first international retreat and adventure, I wanted security without feeling crowded. The apartment at William and Nora's was perfect! I stayed there for six weeks, and it felt like home. Spacious enough for a couple of guests to share a meal. The kitchen works well and the bathroom is modern and sparkling clean. The neighborhood is the expanding area of Jalatlaco, with a internet cafes, lovely restaurants and delis all about. It has its own mercado with fresh food, including marvelous cheeses. Quieter than downtown, it is a 15 minute walk to the zocalo. William and Nora were beyond gracious—giving me total privacy and yet always available for my questions and advice.

"I loved my month-long stay in the apartment. I have never slept so well. It was so peaceful and quiet, with no sound of traffic, something I was to relise was rare in Oaxaca. I also loved wandering around the whole neighbourhood, particularly the nearby park, "El LLano". At night it was great to eat the delicious home cooked food for sale in the streets. Oaxaca is a very special place and this apartment is a great place to be based while while you explore its magic"
Michele Lavery, a Brit living in New York

" We stayed in a housekeeping suite for a month. It faces a beautiful, well maintained courtyard, which you enter from the quaint side street. On this quiet street, it was ideally located for a brisk 20 minute morning walk to Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca, convenient for a quick shorter walk to the market and two blocks from a local server of "pollo asado a la carbon". It was equally convenient for a walk to the Cathedral and to the zocalo. William and Nora are wonderful hosts and really understand how to look after their guests. We are sure to stay with the Gutierrez´s next time we travel to Oaxaca."

"Alec and I loved our home away from home in Jalatlaco. It was pretty, quite and offered a real sense of living in a neighborhood, not to mention its great walk-to-everything location. In addition, Nora and William are the perfect host, helpful and friendly without getting in your face. Their hospitality and the apartment itself helped make our five weeks in Oaxaca among the best we´ve ever had anywhere!"

"Even though Oaxaca was so much fun during the day, I really looked forward to coming home to the apartments at night. The garden was very relaxing, and the host were always gracious. I especially enjoyed sleeping with the windows open. The night air was cool and refreshing, and the sun woke me up gently every morning. I was also happy that the apartment had its own refrigerator and a complete kitchen, so I could have my privacy when I wanted it."
